专利摘要:
A fly shield for a garment such as, for example, a pair of jeans. The fly shield includes a material folded and stitched to form a mitered corner. The mitered corner is defined by a fly shield seam and the fly shield has an approximate trapezoid shape defining two approximate right angles, a first acute angle, and an obtuse angle. The fly shield seam extends towards a vertex of the obtuse angle; and the fly shield defines a bottom folded edge that extends between the vertex of the obtuse angle and a vertex of the first acute angle. The fly shield seam and the bottom folded edge intersect to form a second acute angle, which is a portion of the obtuse angle.

[0051] Detailed description
[0053] As illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, a garment 10 includes a conventional front 15. Garment 10 can be, for example, a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, a skirt, or a pair of jeans as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The front part 15 is generally formed from the right panel (from the user's perspective) 20 and a left panel 25. The right and left panels 20 and 25 are coupled together in part by a seam 30 of the crotch, a closure 33 on a waist 35, and a zipper 36 (shown in Fig. 3) that is placed under / behind a pocket holder 40. Specifically, a first side portion 20a of the right panel 20 engages a first side portion 25a of the left panel 25 via the crotch seam 30. An upper part 20b of the right panel 20 is sewn to the waist 35 and an upper part 25b of the left panel 25 is sewn to the waist 35. As illustrated in Fig. 2, a pocket holder 45 is attached to the waist 35, at the right panel 20 through a seam 50, to the crotch seam through seam 50 and a gusset seam 55, and to the left panel 25 through an anchor stitch 60. The crotch seam 30 extends upward toward the waist 35 until it ends at the gusset seam 55. Generally, a gusset seam is a series of stitches used to reinforce an area of a garment. Therefore, the reinforcing seam 55 is sewn onto the crotch seam 30, or at least one end of the crotch seam 30. Generally, and with reference to Figs. 3 and 4, the zipper 36 includes a first tooth strip 36a, a second tooth strip 36b, a slider or slider 36c that engages and disengages the tooth strips 36a and 36b, and a zipper stopper 36d that stops the movement of the slider. 36c in relation to the tooth strips 36a and 36b. A second side portion 20c of the right panel 20 is attached to the rack 36. As illustrated in Fig. 4, for the sake of clarity, the anchor stitch 60 is not shown engaging the holder 45 to the left panel 25. Instead, for the purpose of clarity, the anchor stitch 60 is shown as cut, resulting in a first portion 60a of anchor stitch 60 extending through the holder 45 and a second portion 60b of the anchor stitch 60 extends through the left panel 25 (Actually, and unlike the illustration in Fig. 4, the anchor stitch 60 is not that cut, and therefore the anchor stitch 60 extends through the holder 45 and the left panel 25 , coupling the holder 45 to the left panel 25, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3). A second side portion 25c of the left panel 25 is coupled to the rack 36. Referring to Fig. 5, the holder 45 is conventionally constructed from a piece 45a of material having a first portion 45b defining a first edge 45b 'and a second part 45c defining a second edge 45c'. As illustrated in Fig. 6, the material 45a is folded such that the first edge 45b 'is substantially aligned with the second edge 45c' and the second part 45c faces the first part 45b. The first and second parts 45b and 45c are then coupled together by a stitch or seam 45d thus defining a first and second seam allowances 45e and 45f (the second seam allowance 45f is shown in Fig. 8), of the second and first parts 45c and 45b, respectively. When folded and sewn together as illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, the material 45a is generally "turned upside down" or the correct side of the material is facing itself. After sewing, the holder 45 is turned "right side out" thereby causing the first and second seam allowances 45e and 45f to be placed inside a pocket 45g (shown in Fig. 8) formed by the first and second seam allowances 45e and 45f. second parts 45c and 45b that form a lower part 45h of the holder 45. When the holder 45 is attached to the right panel 20 as illustrated in Fig. 7, the lower part 45h, including the first part 45b, the first margin 45e seam allowance, second seam allowance 45f, and second part 45c, are attached to crotch seam 30 at a location 65, thus adding four (4) layers of material to the thickness of front part 15 at seam 30 crotch, which is already at least two layers thick (front panel 20 and left panel 25). As such, the lower portion 45h of the holder 45 creates a bulging front portion 15 when the garment 10 is worn by a wearer. Furthermore, the breakage of lycra in high stretch fabrics is increased due to the placement of the seam 45d of the holder relative to the seam 30 of the crotch and / or the volume of the lower part 45h of the holder 45. In addition , the holder seam 45d is sewn to the front 15 at location 65, with the zipper stopper 36d and reinforcing seam 55 positioned between the waist 35 and location 65.
[0055] In an exemplary embodiment, as illustrated in Figs. 9 and 10, a garment 100 includes a front part 105. The front part 105 is generally identical or substantially similar to the front part 15, except that the conventional holder 45 has been replaced by a holder 110 formed from a material 115 In Fig. 10, seam 125 is facing the left panel 25 and is hidden from view, but is shown with a dotted line to illustrate the position of the seam 125 relative to other parts of the garment 100, such as the gusset 55, the waist 35 , the zipper stopper 36d, and the crotch seam 30.
[0057] As illustrated in Figs. 10, 11 and 12, in an exemplary embodiment, the holder 110 is formed of material 115 that is folded and sewn to form a mitered corner 120 defined by a seam 125 of the holder so that a lower portion 130 of the holder 110 is formed from a fold of material 115 (illustrated in Fig. 12). Furthermore, the seam 125 faces the wearer when the wearer is wearing the garment 100. The fact that the seam 125 faces away from the wearer prevents or reduces agitation or friction between the seam 125 and the wearer. As illustrated in Fig. 12, the bottom 130 includes only a first layer of material 115 and a second layer of material 115. When attached to crotch seam 30 at a location 133, the holder 110 significantly reduces wear. Lycra breakdown in high stretch fabrics, creating a cleaner, smoother look across the pocket area due to the placement of the 125 seam of the pocket holder relative to the front 105. In an exemplary embodiment, the pocket holder 110 It reduces the layers of material (2 layers) in the lower part 130 of the holder 110, compared to the layers of material (4 layers) in the part of the conventional holder 45 that extend over the seam 30 of the crotch.
[0059] As illustrated in FIG. 13, for the purpose of clarity, the anchor stitch 60 is not shown attaching the holder 110 to the left panel 25. Instead, for the purpose of clarity, the anchor stitch 60 is shown as cut, resulting in the first part 60a of the anchor stitch 60 extending through the holder 110 and the second part 60b of the anchoring stitch 60 extending through the left panel 25 (at In reality, and in contrast to the illustration in Fig. 13, the anchor stitch 60 is not as cut 60, and thus, the anchor stitch 60 extends through the holder 110 and the left panel 25, engaging the holder 110 to the left panel 25, as shown in Figs. 9 and 10). As shown in Figs. 13, in an exemplary embodiment, at least a portion of the holder seam 125 extends above the zipper stopper 36d, and the holder seam 125 is sewn to the right panel 20 at a location between the stopper 36d of zipper and waist 35.
[0061] In an exemplary embodiment, a top plan view of material 115 is illustrated in FIG. 14. Material 115 includes a first portion 135 that includes a first edge 140 and a second part 145 including a second edge 150, where an obtuse angle 153 is defined between the first edge 140 and the second edge 150. A first fold line is represented in the second part 145, a second fold line is represented as generally dividing the first and second parts 135 and 145, and a third fold line is shown in the second part 145. The first part 135 has a surface 155 and the second part has a surface 160. A bottom plan view of the material 115 is illustrated in Fig. 15, with the first part 135 having a surface 165 and the second part 145 having a surface 170. Generally, the adjoining surfaces 155 and 160 are the "correct" surfaces, and the adjoining surfaces 165 and 170 are the "wrong" surfaces, such that surfaces 165 and 170 are normally positioned in a less visible part of garment 100 while surfaces 155 and 160 are generally oriented surfaces s outward or more visible surfaces.
[0063] As illustrated in Figs. 14 and 15, in an exemplary embodiment, material 115 has a 175 top edge extending between two corners defining angles 180 and 185, respectively, with angles 180 and 185 being approximately 90 degree angles (+/- 5 degrees). The material 115 also has an edge 190 and an opposite edge 195. Edge 190 extends between edges 175 and 140. Edge 195 extends between edge 175 and a lower edge 196, which is adjacent to edge 150.
[0065] In an exemplary embodiment, as illustrated in Fig. 16 with continued reference to Figs. 9-15, a method 200 includes: constructing the holder 110 using the material 115 in step 202, including placing the first part 135 and the second part 145 in a first position where the surface 155 of the first part 135 faces surface 160 of second part 145 and first edge 140 is substantially aligned with second edge 150 in step 205, sewing, when first and second parts 135 and 145 are in the first position, the first part 135 to second part 145 to form the seam 125 of the holder at step 210; and then forming the seam 125 of the holder, placing the first and second sewn parts 135 and 145 in a second position in which the surface 165 of the first part 135 faces the surface 170 of the second part 145 and the second part 145 is bent to define a lower edge of the holder at step 215. In an exemplary embodiment, method 200 further includes: attaching the holder 110 to the garment 100 such that the seam 125 of the holder is sewn to the garment 100 at a location between the waist 35 and the zipper stopper 36d in step 220; and creating the reinforcing seam 55 that extends through the holder 110 and the crotch seam 30 so that the seam 125 of the The holder is sewn to the second side portion 20c of the right panel 20 at a location between the reinforcing seam 55 and the waist 35.
[0067] In step 205, the first part 135 and the second part 145 are placed in a first position in which the surface 155 of the first part 135 faces the surface 160 of the second part 145 and the first edge 140 is substantially aligned. with the second edge 150. As illustrated in Fig. 17, a portion of the second part 145 has been folded along the first fold line such that the edges 140 and 150 are substantially aligned and so that surfaces 155 and 160 are facing each other.
[0069] In step 210, the first part 135 and the second part 145 are sewn together by the seam 230 to form the seam 125 of the holder when the first and second parts 135 and 145 are in the first position. The stitching of the first part 135 to the second part 145 forms a pocket that is "turned over." As illustrated in Fig. 17, the bottom edges of the pocket include the seam 125 and material 115 folded along the first fold line. In this position, the "wrong" side of the material is facing outward. While Figure 17 illustrates the pocket collapsed, or flattened, against the rest of the material 115, the pocket can form a 3D cone-shaped cup.
[0071] In step 215, the first and second stitched parts 135 and 145 are placed in the second position in which the surface 165 of the first part 135 faces and is in contact with, or at least faces, the surface 170 of the second part 145, and the second part 145 is folded to define a lower edge 235 of the holder 110. To move from the first position to the second position, the pocket is flipped from the flipped position to a position with the right side out. The pocket forms a 3D cone-shaped cup in this position with the correct side out. After forming the 3D cone-shaped cup, the edges 190 and 195 are aligned, with the surface 165 facing the surface 170, and the holder 110 is flattened such that the material 115 is folded along the second fold line. When the 3D cone is flattened, the material 115 that forms the pocket or the cup is forced to fold as well, and folds along the third fold line. Material 115 is folded along the second fold line before, simultaneously with, or after material 115 is folded along the third fold line.
[0073] Figs. 18 and 19 illustrate the holder 110 when in the second position. When is in the second position, the seam 125 of the holder forms the mitered corner 120. In an exemplary embodiment, the mitered corner 120 is defined by the seam 125 of the holder. In addition, when in the second position, the holder 110 has an approximate trapezoidal shape that defines two approximate right angles (angle 180 and opposite angle 240), a first acute angle 250, and an obtuse angle 255. Generally, seam 125 of the holder extends toward a vertex of obtuse angle 255, and holder 110 defines the lower folded edge 235 which extends between the vertex of obtuse angle 255 and a vertex of first acute angle 250. In an exemplary embodiment, seam 125 of the holder and the lower folded edge 235 intersect to form a second acute angle 260, which is a part of the obtuse angle 255. In an exemplary embodiment and because the seam 125 of the holder is angled relative to the lower edge 235, at least a portion of the seam 125 of the holder is spaced from the bottom edge 235 between about 2.54 cm and 5.08 cm (1 inch and 2 inches), between about 2.79 cm and 4.8 3 cm (1.1 inches and 1.9 inches), between approximately 3.30 cm and approximately 4.32 cm (1.3 inches and approximately 1.7 inches), between approximately 3.56 cm and approximately 4.06 cm (1.4 inches and approximately 1.6 inches) ), or by approximately 3.81 cm (1.5 inches). In some exemplary embodiments, the spacing is greater than 4.83 cm (1.9 inches) but less than 7.62 cm (3 inches) and may be less than 2.54 cm (1 inch) but greater than 0. 64 cm (0.25 inch). In an exemplary embodiment and referring to FIG. 10, the lower folded edge 235 forms the lower portion 130 of the holder 110, and the only portion of the holder 110 that is configured to extend over the crotch seam 30 of the garment 100 (when the holder 110 is attached to the garment 100) is the bottom 130. Therefore, the seam 125 of the holder is spaced from the seam 30 of the crotch so that the seam 125 of the holder seams only to the right panel 20 (not to both the left and right panels 20 and 25). In an exemplary embodiment, the lower portion 130 of the holder 110 consists of a first layer of material and a second layer of material as illustrated in Figs. 12 and 19. Although surface 165 as shown in Fig. 19 is only facing surface 170, in various embodiments surface 165 is facing and in contact with surface 170.
[0075] At step 220 and referring again to Fig. 10, the holder 110 is attached to the garment 100 via seam 50 such that the seam 125 of the holder is sewn to the garment 100 at a location 270 between the waist 35 and top 36d of the zipper. In addition, the surface facing the wearer (when the garment 100 is worn by the wearer) is a smooth or clean finished surface because the seam 125 is oriented in the same direction. away from the user and towards the zipper 36.
[0077] In step 225, the gusset seam 55 is added to the garment 100. In one embodiment, the pocket holder seam 125 is sewn to the second side portion 20c of the right panel 20 at location 270 which is between the gusset seam. 55 and waist 35.
[0079] In several exemplary embodiments, positioning the holder seam 125 relative to the holder 110 and / or crotch seam 30 reduces abrasion and "drag" since the seam 125 goes under a sewing foot during sewing. construction of the garment 100. Additionally, reducing the layers of material (from 4 in a conventional holder to 2 in the holder 110) at the bottom 130 reduces the bulge created in the area of the holder when the garment 100 it is used by the user. Additionally, seam 125 facing outward toward zipper 36 rather than facing inward toward the user reduces agitation and / or friction between seam 125 and the user.
[0081] In various exemplary embodiments, although different stages, processes, and procedures are described as distinct acts, one or more of the stages, one or more of the processes, and / or one or more of the procedures could also be performed in different orders, simultaneously. and / or sequentially. In various exemplary embodiments, the steps, processes, and / or procedures could be merged into one or more steps, processes, and / or procedures.
